That's The Way It Always Goes - Rick Richardson

This may take a moment or two to load ....

That's The Way It Always Goes

He walks into a tavern now he's all alone
Thinks about somebody that he left back home
That's the way it always goes

He looks around a minute then he orders a drink
Then he looks at her and she gives him a wink
Deep inside desire grows

She comes over, they talk for a while
He invites her home and she accepts with a smile

In his apartment far above
The hustle of the city they can kiss and hug
And maybe more, well no one knows

She wakes up in the morning and goes out to the car
Finds it hard to think that she had gone that far
That's the way it always goes

Another tank of gas and now she's far away
Trying not to think at all of yesterday
She dries her eyes but she still knows

He wakes up now to find she's not there
Another night's gone but what does he care

He walks into a tavern now he's all alone
Thinks about somebody that he left back home
That's the way it always goes

That's the way it always goes
