With a fit so good, You
feel like showing off
Normandy Rose, (Who else?) Normandy Rose
You're looking good honey
Always just right
You wear the Rose
Cause they feels so nice
You're such a fancy dancer
Gotta keep you in sight
With a fit so good, You
feel like showing off
Normandy Rose.
With a fit so good, You
feel like showing off
Normandy Rose.
Who else?
This was my
most popular recording. It was on radio and TV in
the early eighties. NOTES:
I was at
"The Music Source", a recording studio in Seattle,
recording "Ester Michaels" and "My Girl". The recording
studio did jingles and they had a new client (Normandy
Rose Jeans) that they had asked me if I wanted to help
them write a jingle for.
This was a
different situation for me. I had always paid the
studio to record my songs, but this was the first time
that they were going to pay me!
I went home
that night and came up with the basic tune and idea, and
gave them a call in the morning and sang it over the
phone.
I had
... "With a fit so good you feel like showing off ...
Normandy Rose".
And I had
the tune for the middle part (but no words yet), and I
told them that I wanted the rhyming words for the middle
part to rhyme with "right".
They said it
sounded "cool", and could I come in sometime in the next
couple of days to do a spec recording for the client,
and they would work on some words for the middle part.
When we met
with the client, he wanted to add the "who else" to the
jingle
We then got
together in a couple of days and I recorded the vocal
tracks.
When all was
said and done, I had spent a couple of hours and got a
total of $600.00. I thought that was a good deal!
However, when the jingle was being played all over the
radio and TV, I remember thinking, "That's me singing
and I didn't get paid much of anything!" I
then had to remember what a good deal that I thought it
was, just a few weeks earlier.
